Peugeot’s smart four seat city car

peugeot BB1 four seat city carPEUGEOT believes that the future of urban motoring will be a cross between a car and a scooter, as illustrated by its latest BB1 vehicle.

It is driven by two electric motors mounted in the rear wheels and has enough power from its lithium-ion battery packs to travel up to 75 miles between recharges.

Unlike many small electric cars, however, the Peugeot BB1 can accommodate up to four adults due to its unusual layout and controls that are more like those of a scooter than a car.

Solar panels help to power the vehicle’s onboard systems, which include connection to a smart phone and all of its facilities including music, images and hands-free navigation.

The distinctive-looking vehicle is battery powered only, so it is completely emissions-free but Peugeot has yet to indicate if it is set for full-scale production. Following its debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September the car was on show recently in London.
