Crossover implies a car that has SUV type attributes, while still being a family car. BMW unveils details of new 3 Series

BMW’S NEXT generation 3 Series, which will be launched in 2012, has broken cover. While the details have been very sketchy up to this point, BMW decided to satisfy public curiosity by releasing some general information.

The proportions of a typical 3 Series will remain, meaning squat proportions and short rear overhang. The overall look will be slimmer and more toned compared to the current model.

Ferrari to produce its first hybrid?

Ferrari will come out with its first hybrid system on the upcoming replacement for its 612 Scaglietti grand touring car. Britain’s Autocar magazine quoted unnamed Ferrari sources confirming that the Italian exotic car company is working on a hybrid system that will see electric power going to the front wheels, giving the car all-wheel-drive capability. The system reportedly won’t become available before 2014.

Mahindra to foray into motorcycle segment next year

After an entry into scooters, auto manufacturer Mahindra and Mahindra will launch a motorcycle next year, a senior company official said.

“The company is working on motorcycle models and the first model will be launched in 2010,” said company vice-president of sales and customer care Sanjay Mittal.

Honda Siel launches new variant of CR-V

Luxury car maker Honda Siel Cars India today launched a new version of its sports utility vehicle, Honda CR-V, priced between Rs 21.9 lakh and Rs 24.12 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The new CR-V comes in three variants with an engine capacity of 2.0-2.4 litre, the company said in a statement.
