Audi Nov sales up 12% exceeds 2009 target

German luxury car maker Audi today reported 12.22 per cent growth in sales for November and said it has surpassed the annual sales target for 2009 within the first 11 months of the year.

The company sold 101 units during November, against 90 units during the same month last year, it said in a statement.

Small cars to rise in sales

Ford Motor Co.’s top sales analyst said that he expects sales of cars and car-based vehicles, such as crossovers, to continue increasing as consumers from baby boomers to young new buyers seek more efficient transportation options.

George Pipas, who spoke to the Automotive Press Association in Detroit, said a variety of factors will contribute to the continued growth of cars, especially smaller models. [click to continue...]

Mercedes-Benz Cars sales up 4 percent in Oct

German carmaker Daimler AG said its Mercedes-Benz Cars division saw a 4 percent increase in global sales in October.

Daimler, based in Stuttgart, said the division, which includes the Mercedes-Benz and Smart brands, delivered 97,700 cars during the month compared with 93,800 in October 2008.

Audi sales jump 8% in October

Luxury car maker Audi India today reported 8.41 per cent increase in its sales in October at 116 units over the same period last year.

The company had sold 107 units in October, 2008, Audi India said in a statement.

Car sales zoom in Oct on festive demand; bikes follow suit

Car makers in the country, led by Maruti Suzuki Hyundai and Tata Motors, today reported healthy jump in October sales, cashing in on robust purchases during the festive season.

Two-wheeler makers, except for market leader Hero Honda, also reported good sales growth during the month.

Toyota Sept China car sales rise 45 percent

Toyota Motor Corp said its car sales in China in September rose 45 percent from a year earlier to a record monthly high of about 72,000 vehicles as stimulus policies bolstered consumer confidence.

In the first nine months of the year, the top Japanese automaker sold about 486,000 cars in China, up 13 percent from a year earlier, a company spokesman said.

Car sales sparkle in Diwali weekend

This has been a heady Diwali weekend for carmakers which could pave the way for good sales numbers this month.

Market leader Maruti Suzuki sold 10,000-12,000 cars in three days from Dhanteras to Diwali, considered an auspicious period for buying.
